For example, we recently we had a client who was trying to purchase a home. She had been self-employed for several years but had never set up her business entity. The bank would not make the loan to her because she could not prove that she had been self-employed for the time frame she was claiming. Once her LLC had been registered with the state she took the company documents to the mortgage lender, which they accepted that as sufficient evidence of her self-employment and gave her the home. She is now enjoying that new home with her family.
